He is a Decade Life Member of the Special Forces Association and past President of the local Special Forces Association (SFA) Chapter 78.

As the main instructor for this course, Colonel Duffy has many accolades to back this all up, and though we can’t list it all here, we’ll name a few. Served as a Special Forces Green Beret “A” Team Detachment Commander in Vietnam.

After graduating from San Fernando Valley State University, he studied Tactical & Strategic Warfare at several institutions, including the US Army Command and General Staff College, the JFK Special Warfare Center and School, and the Defense Intelligence College. He earned a Master’s in International Relations at the University of Southern California. Later served as a United States Diplomatic Representative in Hong Kong. We could truly go on for a while.

As for his self-defense experience, he is a black belt & instructor in Tang Soo Do, Taekwondo, Shotokan Karate, Combat Tai Chi Chuan, and Qigong. He has had former training in Hapkido, Judo, Ninjitsu, and knife fighting, and even served as a Hand-to-Hand Combat Instructor for Green Berets. Colonel has also had training in several Chinese martial arts weapons, Kubotan, Kubotai, Karambit knife, and several more.

It’ll come as no surprise that Colonel Duffy has several military awards and continues to be a mentor for all of us at ADI. His self-defense classes are a great opportunity to learn strikes from assorted martial arts, and you’ll be in safe hands, to say the least.
