Enough Already

Okay, my fellow Americans… let’s cut the crap.

I have used this blog before to pontificate on political philosophy, point out inane aspects of gun control, occasionally wrap myself in our flag, and sometimes parody the idiocy that seems to manifest around us all too frequently.

This time I am going to be far more direct.

The shit going down right now needs to stop.

Now.

We’ve discussed tribalism before and how that has affected what I call the Victim Industrial Complex.  I don’t want to rehash old blogs; suffice it to say that we have arrived here as a result of a boatload of people making a boatload of money on making sure that everyone feels victimized, oppressed, and marginalized.

Now, let me also be clear about my thoughts about racism, sexism, jingoism, transphobia and whatever other marginalization factors exist out there in our society:  They do, in fact, “exist”; they shouldn’t, but they do.  They flow in multiple directions.  They always have, and until we cross through the posited future singularity, they always will.

And here is the real kicker:  There is not a goddamn thing you can do about it.

You will never, ever be able to crawl inside the recesses of someone’s brain and “un-bigot” them.  You will never, ever be able to modulate the internal souls of other human beings and alter the way they think about others.

How f#$king arrogant for you to think that you can!

What tenured misanthrope coddled you into thinking this was a good idea?  Demand your money back!  They lied to you!  (But I suspect you already know that… this is one of the reasons this great crises of conscience exists in the first place, isn’t it?)

Let’s play a game, shall we?  Imagine a law… state, federal, local, whatever… imagine a law that says black people can’t own a business (or yellow people, or purple people, or Jews or Roma… insert your own victim class).

Guess what.  It is unenforceable… totally violates the Constitution.  I mean, not kinda violates it… I mean flat-out, out of the park, what the hell were you thinking, violation of the Constitution.  Oh… and if they do try to enforce this patently unconstitutional law… you get to sue!  When you prevail (and you will), you not only get a hefty paycheck for your rights being violated, you also get all of your attorney fees back as well, you lucky devil you.  As a practical matter, you won’t really have paid a dime to your attorneys because they will be more than happy to “invest” in the litigation for a complete payout at the end.

(If you have arrived here from our newsletter, continue reading here…)

But, but, but… systemic racism?!  You don’t know what it is like!

What the hell are you talking about?

You think this a new thing?  You think this is something that is endemic to America?  What the hell have you been eating, Pumpkin?!?

Wanna know how the Roman Republic grew geographically and economically?  Slaves!  Good, old-garden variety slaves!  They did not have a “slave trade” as such… they just enslaved the people they conquered.  Sometimes they were neighboring Italians, sometimes they were Turkish, sometimes they were Carthaginians.  Oh yeah… and the Chinese?  They had slaves…and the Greeks… slaves… and the British… slaves.

But we had black slaves!  And, and, and Representative Maxine Waters and Representative Cori Bush said the Declaration of Independence was written by white men for white men!  That this is “stolen land”!!!!

Good Lord.

First of all, if your knowledge of American history is routed in a two-hour Broadway musical we have deeper problems that need to be addressed.  The whole damn point of drafting the Declaration, and later the ratification of the Constitution, was literally to bring southern slave states into the fold with them, fully aware the North wanted to abolish slavery.

Made by rich, white men?  Ms. Waters… if not those “rich white men”, then who?

Also…. am I supposed to believe that these “rich white men” were so irrational, such boneheads that they would put at risk their entire fortunes, and their lives on a bet that had a ridiculously small chance of succeeding?  I mean, good God, they were committing an act of treason against the strongest empire on earth!  They were going to take this gamble for what?  To save a couple of bucks a year on taxes?  Do you think they were idiots?

Representative Bush… let me correct your tweet:  Not “stolen land”.  Try “conquered land”.  The same warring tribalism that took place for ten thousand years on this continent between the first nations, now had another tribe to add to the mix.  This tribe, though, was successful.

But let’s play this out, Representative Bush.  Since, in your mind, this land is “stolen”, the only appropriate remedy is restoration.  Okay.  Pack your bags, because you are squarely part of the problem, too.  It matters not that your relatives came to this “stolen land” voluntarily or in chains, sold into servitude by another rival African tribe that found it more efficient to send their enemies and their families to another continent than to waste all of the effort on genocide.    Let me know what part of the world you decide to emigrate to… curious to see your choices.

From Olympic athletes turning their backs on the flag, to the New York Times suggesting that Old Glory is a triggering symbol, to this nonsense from sitting members of Congress… this shit has to stop.  Want to be a collectivist?  Fine… here is one for you, you bonehead… you are part of a goddamn collective already!!!  It’s called the United States of America!  Do your job, be the best you can be… actually provide value to someone else… and, by all means, call out injustice when and where you see it.  That is the whole point of being an American.  But if you think the very country that was created based on the principles of protecting minority rights is systemically racist and, therefore, worthy of destruction, you’re simply an idiot masquerading as a victim.

    Steve,

Great blog. I’ve been saying the same thing for weeks now, albeit not as eloquently or supported as well by the lessons of history. All of this crap makes me mad to the point that I can’t watch the news at night. This blog is so to the point that I will be sharing it with friends and family.

    Thank you.

Well said, however we are no longer a country united. Our commonality has been decayed by demolishing the symbols that united us, most importantly a common language and its benefit to assimilation, and national symbolism such as standing for the Anthem, etc.. I say further that we aren’t even tribes anymore with the erosion of our religions and cultures, we are individuals seeking attention first and the easiest way to get attention is to be a victim!

I couldn’t agree more. For some “loud” people it’s about reliving the past and blaming people who had NOTHING to do with the gripping of these LOUD people. Instead of focusing on the things that can’t be changed (the past), move forward and make this country better which, might I remind everyone, is what has been happening for over 200 years.

Steven, as always so very much on point! I’m not sure if Scotland/England/Ireland/Scandinavia/France/Wales is a country that would take me back! But I have always identified as a Kansasan as that is where I was born growing up to love this country. All people are by their very nature prejudice. I can prove it in less than a nanosecond with anyone. And have! I believe the Declaration and Constitution were divinely written, as Hank Williams once said, I don’t write the songs, God does, I just hold the pen!

I remember when Hillary was running for President. She said something to the effect that if she won the Presidency “women would be one step closer to finally breaking that glass ceiling.” Really? One step closer? So even becoming President isn’t enough for a woman to smash this imaginary glass ceiling? That was one of the moments that helped make very clear the Democrats 2-part strategy for the survival of their party: First, tell everyone they are victims (be it based on gender, race, religion, etc). This allowed the second part: because you are a victim they, the Democrats, are the only ones who can save you. The Democrats will never stop telling people they are victims because this is their entire political strategy, and their party would cease to exist without this victimhood mentality.

No no Steve, you should tell us how you *REALLY* feel! 🙂

Seriously though, you aren’t far off the mark. I have been in several “colorful debates” online regarding this common theme. Most recently is in a FB group comprised predominantly of asians. The topic of CRT came up, and the original poster asked why was CRT being criticized. A few of us spoke our pieces, and were then promptly labeled as white supremacy supporters. You can imagine the irony of the situation, where a 1st Generation asian immigrant / naturalized citizen is being accused by other asians as being white supremacist. But considering that the group is predominantly asian, I cannot help but wonder how many CCP agitators are embedded in the group jotting down names (I know I can’t step foot in PRC ever without being whisked away for speaking against the party-line), or taking the temperature of how asians in the US feel about a Chinese takeover.

In any case, keep up the good fight! Please send my regards to your family.

“There is another class of coloured people who make a business of keeping the troubles, the wrongs, and the hardships of the Negro race before the public. Having learned that they are able to make a living out of their troubles, they have grown into the settled habit of advertising their wrongs — partly because they want sympathy and partly because it pays. Some of these people do not want the Negro to lose his grievances, because they do not want to lose their jobs.”
    – Booker T. Washington, about 100 years ago

And now other “activists” have picked up on the theme.

Couldn’t agree more, Stephen. But the question is how do we turn the tide? This unbridled move by the liberals and Marxists for power and control seems unstoppable until it has destroyed our Republic and replaced it with something we can hardly imagine.

I could write volumes on this topic in my own words, but suffice it to say that you have captured a prevailing thought that has risen to the surface of the American consciousness. And again, you have done so in a manner that speaks volumes.
We have had enough of the madness. The work is really just beginning now. I will ask each and everyone to contribute time and resources for the good of future generations and the future of this nation. This is a plea for help on behalf of America!
We are human, as such WE ALL have our faults. No nation is perfect. No society is perfect. Yet America is being singled out as the worst of the worst! I will not stand for it! I demand accountability of those elected to represent us. I hope this is the beginning of a re-awakened America! I am retired, but feel as though my work is just beginning on the important work to save this nation. Can we all join together in this regard? Thanks again for your direct comments.

For too long, we have all (myself included) complained about the lunacy of the left to one another. Being a conservative, I have rolled my eyes and bit my tongue when I have heard absolute moronic drivel flowing out of the mouths of left-wing neighbors and strangers. But as the pandemic has waned, I have been more assertive when I hear idiotic ideas based on feelings and not on facts. Be it masks, vaccines, ‘follow the science’, or other common topics, I have found an increasing pleasure in standing up to these people. They seem to think whoever has the loudest voice and the most passion is right.

Often I will start by asking them non-confrontational questions and build from there unit they realize that they have no idea what they are talking about. Usually they get angry as the weakness of their position is exposed and they will eventually disengage and go away… which is what we all want, right? Maybe they will think twice again about opening their big yaps when they are not in one of their ‘safe zones’.

So, I ask all of you to stand up and challenge the misconceptions of friends, neighbors and strangers when you witness stupid assertions like the 27 different genders or that socialism is a new idea. Who knows, some people might just stop talking about topics they know nothing about. Of course, measure the mental health of other people before you do this with some friendly questions and don’t engage with anyone who seems like they might be dangerous…. Idiots are some of the most dangerous people in the world!

We don’t let kids decide what we are having for dinner every night or when bedtime will be. But in their case, its not because they are stupid, its because they don’t know any better, yet. So why the hell would we let these left -wing lunatics decide what is good for our country when most kids have more common sense than they do?
